Youth POV
Purpose
The purpose of the Youth POV Project is to empower young adults with disabilities to recognize and use their voices as a guide toward a successful future. Through targeted resources, training, and peer-to-peer support, the project aims to strengthen self-advocacy, intentional planning, and awareness of available support services during the transition to adulthood.
The Youth POV Project is designed to equip youth and young adults with practical tools and information that help them navigate complex systems and make informed decisions with confidence. By integrating youth-led peer support and leadership, the project creates a relatable, engaging environment that fosters growth, independence, and resilience.
The project will emphasize positive, productive goal setting aligned with self-directed planning. Peer support groups will lead structured activities that develop critical self-advocacy skills, enabling participants to:
- Youth will find their voice and use it for good
- Build self-esteem
- Help others build self-confidence
- Share resources and tools that will help youth be successful
Ultimately, the Youth POV Project aims to increase confidence and successful outcomes for youth and young adults with disabilities as they transition into adulthood.
